With globalization
as the key word in the Garment and Textiles industry, product
quality is of prime concern to both buyers and sellers in order to
achieve increasing consumer satisfaction and to safeguard their
reputation in the growing apparel and textile markets. In western
markets, garments are statutorily required to carry labels
indicating fibres and their contents, laundering instructions and
many other specifications are also to be strictly adhered to.
Quality is a major source of concern even to sellers, as they need
to depend upon many sub-vendors who supply raw materials and
products, emphasizing the need for strict quality control.
The absence of a professional, fully equipped testing laboratory
with latest equipment and fully trained competent technical manpower
functioning to the exacting standards of the western markets, was
disallowing working companies to improve their quality systems to
the standards demanded by ISO 9000 series. CMAI's Testing Laboratory
has been set up to meet this need of the industry.
The types of tests undertaken are comprehensive. They cover colour
fastness under various conditions washing above and below 40°C,
perspiration and dry and wet crocking. The quality of the fabric can
be evaluated across a spectrum of parameters, tensile strength,
bursting strength, tear strength, shrinkage, crease recovery angle,
yarn count, twist per yarn removed from fabric, GSM and pilling
test. The laboratory is also equipped to carry out the azo dye test
- GCMS.
The services of the Laboratory can be utilized by members and
non-members. However, CMAI members are eligible for a discount,
which can be availed by mentioning the registration number.o the
supply chain. |
